We Welcome You to

CIRCE'S ISLAND

Building Together:

What We Made.

Circe's Island was a community project designed to support the wellbeing of womxn from the North East of England and encourage them to share their own stories through creative exploration.

Lizzie met with Bellburn community shed and consulted with groups around Darlington before launching the creative writing and reflective creativity project.

After a series of workshop from Lizzie Lovejoy, the 11 participants were given the option to share their work through a showcase event at Theatre Hullabaloo in Darlington.

Lizzie, inspired by the visions of the participants, created a series of illustrations based on aspects of the island that they designed. These artworks were showcased in an exhibition at Newcastle College and a one off showcase at Theatre Hullabaloo.

This project was funded by Arts Council England and Creative Darlington. It was supported by Helix Arts and Changing Relations.
