In early 2021, ARC started it's Artist of Change programme, which involved bringing Lizzie in at AOC full time in a part-activist-part-creative role.
Lizzie sought to explore Northerness, and change the UK's perspective on what it is to be Northern, one illustration at a time. Through this, they explored concepts of Home, Family, Working-Class identity and the impact of disability in an industry with mixed levels of accessability.
Lizzie made changes to ARC itself, creating an exhibition space in the cafe and windows to make art more accessible to visitors, creating digital exhibitions on ARCs website so that more people could take part without the need for travel, and encouraging change in how artists are invited to the part of a space so that the scene is more open to Working-Class and disabled people.
Visually, Lizzie created over 300 images and worked with over 50 artists from the local creative scene to produce 6 physical and digital exhibitions, as well as a range of informative podcast episodes and performances.
