VISUAL ARTS PROJECTS

Lizzie Lovejoy became a full time illustrator at the start of 2021, taking on the role of Artist of Change at ARC Stockton Arts Centre. After 6 exhibitions in one year focused on the stories of Northern people, Lizzie continued working to share tales of Northern heritage, culture and experience elsewhere. Clients include: BBC Bitesize, Changing Relations, South Tyneside Council, Creative Darlington, Hartlepool Waterfront festival and many more.

Lizzie was born in the North and has chosen to remain and celebrate their local culture, peoples and identity. Northerness is core to their work.

WORKING-CLASS CULTURE


Similar to themes of Northerness, Working-Class identity is baked into who Lizzie is due to their upbringing and Northern home. This is a culture worth our attention.

HISTORY AND HERITAGE


Lizzie almost focused their career entirly on on local history. Growning up, they were invested to finding the pieces that made the world what it is today.
